The Race Cards | Created by K.A. Gilmore

The Race Cards

The stigma of racism accusations often silences victims, challenges their character, and reinforces oppression. Pulling “The Race Card,” or calling out racist behavior, was avoided at all costs.

Few people have learned how to have honest conversations about race. Even fewer are comfortable doing so. Silence is not golden.

The cards are designed as a companion to the book series, Nobody Told Me I Am Black. They can be used by anyone, anywhere people are willing to learn from one another.

Change doesn’t always look the same. Some people lead conversations. Some open doors. Some simply refuse to stay silent.

The Purpose

The Race Cards are a simple way to stimulate conversation about things you perhaps had never thought about. The more we talk about it, the better we get.

These cards are not accidental. They are a tool to help you find your voice, or even act more confidently when you need or want to. Learn from others. More importantly practice having the conversation in a safe environment.

Each 52 card deck contains thirteen cards at the Earth Angel, Action Maker, Truth Seeker and Ground Zero levels. This creates the perfect learning environment no matter who is in the room and plays the game.

Go ahead, pull the race card in the 21st Century!

The Decks

While many of the questions explore race and the experiences that shape our mindset and beliefs with the larger goal of learning how to listen, ask better questions, and stay in conversations that matter.

How long you spend on each question, or how many questions you go through is not the point. The point is to give you a starting point for honest conversations about race.

Four decks. Choose one ($119), two ($199), or the full set ($349).
