The Work

K.A. Gilmore examines race, power, memory, and silence in American life through writing and public conversation.

Nobody Told Me I Am Black: Setting the Stage launches a long form series confronting the stories America tells about itself and the cost of believing them.

Karen speaks publicly about race, identity, American mythology, and the lived cost of silence. Her work bridges personal narrative and structural analysis, inviting readers and audiences into direct, grounded conversations that move beyond slogans and defensiveness.

Why Now

As public conversations around race grow louder yet increasingly polarized, Nobody Told Me I Am Black offers a measured, personal, and data-informed lens. The work does not argue from outrage. It examines the origin of belief, the weight of history, and the everyday behaviors that sustain inequity without intention.
